ICE RINK UPDATE: We have just resurfaced the Holiday Ice Rink in the Hancock Town Square following a few inches of recent snow. We will be hosting Free Hot Coco and Skating Music tonight from 6-8PM. This will give it the rink top coat a couple additional hours to smooth out in the cold. So please feel free to come out and enjoy some family fun. We have some donated skates, which are available to borrow in various sizes, otherwise please bring your own skates!
HOLIDAY ICE RINK OPEN! We welcome anyone to come down to the Hancock Holiday Ice Rink tonight, which is now open everyday this week and next from 8AM to 8PM. Please bring your own skates, although we do have some donated pairs in limited sizes for public use. Please note that you skate at your own risk, so beginners should always use our rink handrails to help teach themselves to skate. We will have outdoor music this evening and tomorrow evening 4-6pm along with free hot cocoa. Outdoor heaters can be turned on for parents or friends who wish to watch!
HOLIDAY ICE RINK UPDATE: it's time to roll out the holly and dawn your skating apparel folks! Hancock's Holiday Ice Rink will officially open tonight, later than expected, but thanks to a cold streak we will leave it open each day for the next two weeks from 8am-8pm. If there is rain or snow we will do our best to resurface each few days. But please be mindful that you skate at your own risk, and to take your time and hold hand rails for beginners. Please bring your own skates, and over the next two weekends (Fridays and Saturdays) from 4-6pm we will offer complimentary hot coco and music to skate to for the whole family. #visithancockny - Voted -#1 Best Small Town in the USA by TimeOut New York
ICE RINK UPDATE: We have repaired the Hancock Holiday Ice Rink and refilled it fully, as of this evening. We expect with current weather conditions to be able to open the rink on Tuesday afternoon. If the rink freezes as expected, we will leave it open every day for public use over the next few weeks, while the cold weather lasts. Please only go onto the ice, if the Penguin door sign says "OPEN" to avoid any further damage to the liner.
POWER OUTAGE UPDATE: Power is being restored now. There are currently more than 2,500 NYSEG customers in Delaware county without power or affected by this outage. Please be advised multiple crews are actively working to solve this situation long-term and restore power to homes and customers here in Hancock and the surrounding communities. There may continue to periods of down time if the issue persists but be patient and thankful for the hard working crews operating in these conditions.
Holiday Ice Rink Update: Sadly due to holiday shipping delays, our new ice rink liner has still not arrived as intended. So we will have to cancel today's volunteer group in the Hancock Town Square at 1pm, until it arrives. We will keep you posted over the next few days and we appreciate your patience and any volunteer help in putting in the new liner when it arrives.
